OUR PROCESS OF BECOMING

once a strawberry farm…

Now a budding retreat center, rooted in the values of mindfulness and community.

Moved by their experiences at several meditation centers and farms in Mississippi, the Hyunh family developed a vision of a spacious retreat center where loved ones and their loved ones would be able to momentarily separate from their everyday business and restore their physical, mental, and spiritual health in a natural setting. Nearly 3 years ago, An Hyunh (whose name means peace), and Tam Nguyen (whose name means mind) purchased this 10 acre piece of land, and set right to work on restoring and building what would come to be named in their honor as the Peace of Mind Country House.

In the short time since its purchase, so much has happened! We have made major repairs and developments on the manmade physical space (the houses, construction of the tea hut, and more), nurtured the land (planting 200-300 trees, starting several herb, vegetable, and flower gardens, and more), and created and run our own programming (many volunteer trips, as well as overnight meditation retreats). Everything that has been accomplished so far has been the result of the staggering talent and generosity of this extended community.

Spearheading these efforts are Quang Hyunh, long-time New Orleans acupuncturist, and Hannah Pellouchoud, yoga teacher and community organizer, who are running programming as Interdependence, L3C. Every effort here is a concerted effort by a team of kind hearts and rock stars (you know who you are, thank you so much). We look forward to evolving the structure of the organization to include more authoritative voices, and weaving the principles of equity and community more fully into the structure of the organization.
